Douglas E. Wagner studied music at Butler University, earning both undergraduate and graduate degrees before spending three decades in high school music education and administration. Since 1973, he has published over 3,500 compositions across choral, band, orchestral, handbell, organ, piano, and vocal genres; his works have circulated in more than seventeen million copies worldwide and appear regularly in concert halls, broadcasts, and festival programs across the United States and internationally.

Now based in Indianapolis, Wagner devotes himself entirely to composition and related work. His prolific output and deep classroom experience combine to create music that speaks directly to the pedagogical needs of young musicians and the practical realities of school music programs.
