Steve Hodges

Steve Hodges holds degrees from Western Oregon University (Bachelor of Science) and Central Washington University (Master of Music Education). He spent four decades as a public school music educator, directing bands, choirs, and chamber ensembles across multiple grade levels before retiring from the classroom.

Since 1986, Hodges has composed over 120 concert band works published by Alfred Music, along with choral arrangements through Staff Music and Shawnee Press. His compositions have appeared at festivals and state conventions worldwide, and his commissioned works have been performed by honor bands and schools from Virginia to British Columbia. His music has also been featured on TBS and ESPN programming. A member of ASCAP, Hodges remains active in community music in The Dalles, Oregon, and takes particular joy in hearing his grandsons and granddaughters perform his pieces in their school bands.
