About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett has shaped musicians and repertoire at the University of Oklahoma since 2001, where he teaches music theory and composition with particular focus on twentieth-century topics. His faculty role followed fifteen years as Assistant Director of Bands, giving him deep roots in ensemble pedagogy and the practical demands of the concert band idiom.

Barrett's compositional output exceeds two hundred works for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band, earning performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony, All-State and All-Region honor bands, and broadcasts on NPR and national television. He continues as musical arranger for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and is a multiple recipient of the ASCAPlus award.
