About the Arranger: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM brings four decades of orchestral performance and string education to her work as a composer and arranger. A Sydney Conservatorium-trained violinist who performed with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, she has maintained a parallel career as Principal Viola player with the Queensland Pops Orchestra while directing strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993. Her credentials as an educator span international conference presentations, major competition adjudication across Australia, and her current role as State Advisor for Strings with the Australian Music Examinations Board.

Fin's prolific output, over 100 published works for string orchestra, reflects her deep understanding of ensemble pedagogy at all levels. She has served multiple terms as President of the Australian Strings Association, contributed to the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's education initiatives, and conducted the State and National Honours Ensembles Programs. Her work with young musicians spans from beginner curricula to advanced repertoire, earning her a National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia.
