About the Composer: Elena Roussanova Lucas
Elena Roussanova Lucas trained at Moscow's most rigorous conservatories, beginning piano study at age three and advancing through the prestigious Central Music School before earning her Red Diploma in Composition at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. Her composition teachers included Tihon Khrennikov and Tatiana Choodova, placing her work in direct lineage with twentieth-century Russian compositional traditions.
As a composer and pianist, Lucas has built an international career with performances by major Russian orchestras, chamber ensembles, and soloists across Moscow, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States. She holds membership in the United Russian Composers Union and has taught composition at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. Currently on the faculty at Boston University, she continues composing works that balance accessibility with musical substance.
