Anne Shannon Demarest

Anne Shannon Demarest has composed more than 200 piano works across the elementary through advanced levels, establishing herself as a prolific voice in American piano repertoire. Her Banff Panorama Suite remains one of her most recognized works, and her compositions have earned her inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who, along with the National Federation of Music Clubs' Special Individual Merit Award (1971-1977). She has performed recitals internationally, including appearances in Sweden, Canada, Australia, and Denmark.

Much of Demarest's compositional voice stems from her extensive travels throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean with her husband. These journeys shaped her musical imagination and informed the cultural textures woven throughout her catalog. Beyond her work as a pianist and composer, she is also a published poet, and she has served as an active member of the Society of Colorado Composers, the National Music Teachers Association, and other professional music organizations.
