About the Arranger: Deborah Baker Monday

Deborah Baker Monday directed the Logan City orchestra program for 25 years, building it into an award-winning ensemble before retiring from full-time teaching. She holds a B.M.E. in string education from Florida State University, an M.M. in composition from the University of Alabama, and completed doctoral coursework at Louisiana State University under James Yestadt. During her time in Logan, she served as a low string specialist and earned the UtahASTA Composition Competition award twice (2006, 2011), along with recognitions for Outstanding Elementary Educator and Superior Accomplishment in music education.

Monday has composed and arranged over 130 educational works for seven publishing companies, with a particular focus on string writing. Her studies with Harold Schiffman, John Boda, Frederic Goossen, Paul Hedwall, and Dinos Constantinides shaped her approach to accessible yet musically substantial arrangements. She remains active as a guest clinician, conductor, and adjudicator, and has presented her work at state conferences, national ASTA conventions, The Midwest Clinic, and the Ohio State String Teachers Workshop.
