About the Composer: Scott Watson
Scott Watson brings three and a half decades of classroom experience to his work as a composer and clinician. He spent 35 years teaching instrumental music in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he directed high school bands and later coordinated the elementary band and strings program across the entire district. His teaching background informs every score he writes; he understands exactly what developing musicians need to succeed.
Now Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University, Watson has composed more than 120 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles across all levels. His music has been performed internationally and at major American venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. Beyond composition, he serves as a clinician and guest conductor for festival and honor bands, and he authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press). Watson is an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications.
