Scott Watson

Scott Watson brings three decades of classroom experience into his work as a composer and educator. After leading the instrumental music program at Parkland School District in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he built both high school bands and an elementary strings curriculum from the ground up, he joined the faculty at Cairn University as Associate Professor of Music. His compositional output reflects this dual mastery: over 120 works span concert band, string orchestra, and chamber settings at every developmental level, performed internationally and at venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic, and the White House.

Watson's voice as a composer draws equally from contemporary classical music and the practical realities of the rehearsal room. He has served as a composer and clinician for Alfred Publications, contributed to their Sound Innovations series, and authored the music education text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011). His frequent guest conducting and clinician work with festival and honor ensembles keeps him deeply connected to the needs of developing musicians and the directors who teach them.
