About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM is an accomplished violist, conductor, and string educator based in Australia. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and spent decades as a performing musician, including 25 years as Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra while maintaining an active chamber music career. Since 1993, she has directed the strings program at Somerville House School in Brisbane, where she has shaped generations of young musicians.

Fin's contributions to string music education extend far beyond the classroom. She has presented at major conferences in Australia and the United States, adjudicated national competitions, and served as State and National President of the Australian Strings Association. Her prolific output of over 100 published works for string orchestra reflects her deep understanding of what young ensembles need. Recognized with a National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching, Fin continues to conduct state and national honour ensembles and serves as State Advisor for Strings with the Australian Music Examinations Board.
