Martha Mier

Martha Mier has shaped piano pedagogy for over three decades through her prolific output of accessible, engaging repertoire. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1989, she has become one of the most widely performed educational composers, with students on six continents learning through her Jazz, Rags & Blues series, Romantic Impressions collections, and more than 200 other publications.

Mier's credibility stems from deep roots in music education. She maintained a private piano studio in Lake City, Florida for many years while serving as a professional accompanist and church musician. Her work as a frequent clinician and adjudicator at the Music Teachers National Association Conference, the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, state conventions, and international workshops in Australia and New Zealand has kept her connected to the real needs of teachers and students. She holds certification through the Music Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and is a co-author of Alfred's Premier Piano Course.
