About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has established himself as a major voice in contemporary band and orchestral composition, with performances spanning from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. His work across multiple genres and ensemble types has earned him significant recognition, including the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association and the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest. He holds elected membership in the American Bandmasters Association and has received commissions from major institutions including the University of Miami.

As a guest conductor, Balmages regularly works with all-state ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras throughout North America and internationally. His music has been performed at prestigious venues and conferences, and was featured during the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic.
