About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin studied violin and viola at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and spent decades as a performing musician, serving as concertmaster of the Sydney Youth Orchestra and principal viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra. Her 25 years directing strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane established her reputation as a passionate educator who mentors young orchestral players.

Fin has composed over 100 works for string orchestra, published internationally by Alfred Music, and remains deeply involved in Australian music education as an examiner with the Australian Music Examinations Board and State Advisor for Strings. Her contributions to string teaching earned her the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching, and she has conducted state and national honours ensembles since 2015.
