About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson holds the position of Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Before joining the faculty, he spent 35 years in the Parkland School District (Allentown, PA), where he directed the high school band program and later oversaw the elementary band and strings curriculum across the district.

Watson has established himself as a prolific and frequently commissioned composer with over 120 published works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles spanning all grade levels. His compositional voice draws equally from contemporary concert music and practical band pedagogy. His works have been performed internationally and at major American venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. As an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications, Watson contributes to their Sound Innovations series and regularly presents workshops and conducts honor bands and festival ensembles. He is also the author of Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011).
