About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson brings three decades of classroom experience to his role as Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University. Before joining the faculty, he spent 35 years teaching instrumental and elective music in the Parkland School District near Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he directed the high school band program and later oversaw the elementary band and strings curriculum across the district.

As a composer, Watson has created more than 120 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles at all levels. His compositions reflect a deep understanding of both contemporary concert music and the practical realities of school music programs. His work has been performed internationally and at major venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. Watson is an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications and authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011). He regularly conducts honor bands, leads workshops for music educators, and maintains an active composing schedule.
