Martha Mier

Martha Mier has shaped piano pedagogy for decades as a composer whose works appear in hundreds of studios and studios worldwide. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1989, she has created accessible yet musically substantial repertoire for students at every level, earning recognition as one of the most frequently performed educational composers of her generation. Her series including Jazz, Rags & Blues and Romantic Impressions have become staples in piano curricula.

Beyond composition, Mier brings deep classroom experience to her work. She maintained a private piano studio in Lake City, Florida for many years and has served as a frequent clinician, adjudicator, and workshop presenter at the Music Teachers National Association Conference, the National Piano Teachers Institute, the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, and state conventions throughout the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
