Description
Claude Debussy (1862-1918) composed the six songs he would in 1903 title ARIETTES OUBLIÉES (FORGOTTEN SONGS), L. 60/ CD 63, between 1885 and 1887. Each song is a setting of the poetry of Paul Verlaine, a poet doing with words what Debussy trying to do with music. Two of the songs premiered on February 2, 1889, at the Société nationale de musique in Paris, Maurice Bagès singing with the composer at the piano. Songs: 1. C'est l'extase langoureuse; 2. Il pleure dans mon cœur; 3. L'ombre des arbres; 4. Chevaux de Bois; 5. Green (Aquarelle); 6. Spleen (Aquarelle).
