America, the changing same: Piano Sheet

One of several piano solos commissioned for Min Kwon's America/Beautiful project in 2021, the four minutes of America, the changing same by George Lewis is a dramatic yet cautious response to events of the decade. He writes, “This wariness is reflected in the piece, which converts the melody of 'America, The Beautiful' into a kind of Schenkerian Ursatz; some notes are missing, but they can be redeemed when the country proves itself worthy of their return.”
