About the Composer: Gary Fagan
Gary Fagan's compositions have traveled far beyond his native Maryland, reaching stages at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and the inauguration of Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Bridgewater College and completed graduate studies in composition at James Madison University.
After 36 years directing bands in Albemarle County schools, Fagan transitioned to university work, serving as a supervisor and adjunct faculty member in arranging at JMU. His contributions to music education have been recognized with outstanding educator awards from the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Piedmont Council of the Arts, and he has been named twice to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Active as a clinician, adjudicator, and percussionist with the Charlottesville Band, Fagan remains a visible presence in the Virginia band director community through his work with the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association and his ongoing composing and arranging.
