About the Composer: Betty Lea Martocchio

Betty Lea Martocchio brings decades of composition and teaching experience to her work with Alfred Music Publishing, where she has published numerous piano solos. Her compositions have earned recognition from the Music Teachers' Association of California, including state wins for Serendipity Rag, Sanderling, and Tropi-Cabana Suite. As a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music with the Music Teachers' National Association, she serves as an adjudicator for The National Guild of Piano Teachers and the MTAC Certificate of Merit Program.

Martocchio holds a Bachelor's degree in music from the University of Redlands and completed advanced studies in theory, composition, and ethnomusicology at the University of California, San Diego. Currently Chair of the Independent Music Teachers' Forum for the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, she maintains a private piano studio in San Diego and has been composing and teaching for over twenty years. Her published articles on independent music teaching appear regularly in professional newsletters.
