About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and began her career as first violinist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. Over decades, she has performed extensively in chamber and orchestral settings while serving as Principal Viola player with the Queensland Pops Orchestra. Her work as Director of Strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993 has shaped generations of young musicians.

Fin brings decades of teaching experience to her compositional work, having presented at multiple Australian National Music Conferences and two American National String Teachers' Conferences. She has composed over 100 published works for string orchestra and served as State and National President of the Australian Strings Association. Her contributions to string education earned her the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia, and she continues to conduct state and national honours ensembles programs.
