About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM is an Australian violist, educator, and prolific composer based in Brisbane. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and served as concertmaster of the Sydney Youth Orchestra before establishing herself as a chamber musician and orchestral performer. For over 25 years, she held the position of Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra while simultaneously directing strings at Somerville House School, where she shaped generations of young musicians.

As both an adjudicator and conference presenter, Fin has influenced string education across Australia and North America. She has composed more than 100 works for string ensemble, many published by Alfred Music, and was instrumental in the Australian Strings Association, serving multiple terms as State and National President. Her contributions to string pedagogy earned her the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching, and she continues to mentor emerging ensembles through conducting roles with state and national honors programs.
