About the Composer: Jay Althouse
Jay Althouse holds degrees in Music Education and Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was later recognized as a Distinguished Alumni. His eight-year tenure as a rights and licenses administrator at a major educational music publisher included service on the Executive Board of the Music Publishers Association of America, positioning him at the center of choral music publishing.
With over 800 compositions in print across all choir levels, Althouse has established himself as one of the most widely performed American choral composers in English-speaking countries. Beyond his prolific output as a composer, he has co-written children's musicals with Sally K. Albrecht, compiled vocal solo collections, authored pedagogical resources including The Complete Choral Warm-up Book and Accent on Composers, and served the music education community through reproducible classroom materials. As a writer member of ASCAP, he has received the organization's Special Award multiple times. Althouse resides in North Carolina and continues his involvement with national music advocacy organizations.
