About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett's career spans both the academy and the podium. Since 2001, he has served on the University of Oklahoma's composition and music theory faculty, where he teaches 20th century topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Beyond the classroom, Barrett maintains his role as arranger for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band, keeping him actively engaged with student musicians and contemporary compositional challenges.

As a composer and arranger, Barrett has established himself nationally with over two hundred published works for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching groups. His music has reached audiences through performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony and countless All-State and All-Region honor bands, as well as broadcasts on NPR and appearances at major conventions including the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention and the International Trumpet Guild. He is a multiple recipient of the ASCAP Plus award and has been honored with the Michael Hennagin memorial scholarship in composition from his home institution.
