About the Composer: Adrian B. Sims
Adrian B. Sims is an emerging composer and conductor based in Maryland who began writing music while still in high school. Born in Seattle in 2000, he studied composition at the University of Maryland under Robert Gibson and has been mentored by Brian Balmages. His work has appeared at The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and earned recognition on the Bandworld Top 100 List.
Beyond composition, Sims is an accomplished trombonist who has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and top ensembles at the University of Maryland, where he studies with Matthew Guilford of the National Symphony Orchestra. He has won multiple composition competitions, including the Maryland Music Educators Association Young Composers Project and the Make Music Young Composers Contest. Sims holds a dual degree focus in Music Education and Composition, reflecting his commitment to both creating and teaching music.
