About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has built a thirty-year career bridging the classroom and the concert stage. A prolific composer and arranger, he has written extensively for young ensembles through major publishers including FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse, and his own Fanfare Music Press (founded in 2022). His work Cloud Gate received a landmark performance at Chicago's Millennium Park in 2017, and his compositions have been featured on network television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. In 2017, he received the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education from the Illinois Grade School Music Association.

Loest's contributions to music pedagogy extend beyond original compositions. He has collaborated on several widely adopted band methods, including Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and the Warm-ups and Beyond series. His deep understanding of classroom needs and developmental progression informs every arrangement he creates. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Illinois State University and his Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and spent his teaching career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois.
