About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over thirty years in the classroom at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Illinois, where he developed a deep understanding of what young musicians need to succeed. His compositions and arrangements are performed by bands across the country, and his work has reached national television audiences on shows ranging from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to Good Morning America. In 2017, his piece Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) premiered at Chicago's Millennium Park in front of over 5,000 spectators, and that same year he received the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education from the Illinois Grade School Music Association.

Beyond his own compositions, Loest has shaped instrumental music education through his contributions to several widely-used method books, including Measures of Success and the Rhythms and Beyond series. He founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to publish compositions and arrangements that prioritize both musical quality and pedagogical value. His published works span multiple publishers including Warner Bros., C.L. Barnhouse, and The FJH Music Company. Loest holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University and maintains membership in ASCAP.
