About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a reputation as a composer and conductor equally at home in orchestral, band, and chamber music settings. His works have been performed by ensembles ranging from professional orchestras to elementary school groups across venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. He holds membership in the American Bandmasters Association and is a recipient of the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association.

Balmages has received commissions from major institutions and his music was performed at the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service. As a conductor, he maintains regular engagements with all-state and regional ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide, and appears frequently at major conducting conferences and clinics. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic.
