About This Collection

Description

Brass sheet music for every level and instrumentation, from foundational method books to performance repertoire. Robert W. Getchell's Practical Studies series and John Kinyon's Breeze-Easy Method books remain the standard starting point for trumpet, French horn, and trombone students. Whether you're building a curriculum for beginners or programming challenging works for your ensemble, you'll find material grounded in pedagogy and real classroom use.

Highlights

Teachers return consistently to Robert W. Getchell's Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet, Book I and John Kinyon's Breeze-Easy Method for Trumpet, Book I as entry points for young brass players. Philip Farkas's The Art of French Horn Playing serves both as a technical resource and a standard reference for intermediate and advanced horn work. For ensemble performance, David Marlatt's Variations on Blue Bells of Scotland and Bach's Aria (Bist du bei Mir) offer reliable additions to concerts and festivals.

Recently added

Ryan Meeboer has contributed two new brass choir arrangements: The Gods of Egypt and The Intrepid. Recent additions also include David Marlatt's The Perilous Seat, Frank McKinney's Mambo Sauce, and a new arrangement of Bach's Sheep May Safely Graze scored for brass choir.

Composer & Author Spotlight

James D. Ployhar stands as one of the most prolific names in music education, with over 800 publications to his credit. His Contemporary Band Course remains widely adopted and has been translated into French and Norwegian. Ployhar's orchestration work with the Danish Royal Philharmonic Orchestra shaped an approach to brass writing that feels both musically substantial and pedagogically sound.

David Marlatt brings a composer's ear to both solo and ensemble writing. His work appears regularly on festival lists and appeals to teachers seeking material with musical integrity at intermediate levels.

Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart represent the classical core of the collection. Their concertos and arias, arranged for brass, give students access to the canon while accommodating the needs of developing players.
