Mark Williams

Mark Williams shaped several generations of young musicians through his prolific output of concert band, orchestra, and choral works. As co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method and a clinician who visited 34 states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Australia, he became a defining voice in school music education. His career reflected a deep commitment to ensemble writing that worked for real student musicians at every level.

Based in Washington state for much of his career, Williams brought both compositional sophistication and practical classroom experience to his music. A bassoon performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band, he understood the mechanics of wind writing intimately. His honors included the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Beyond composing, he served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band, maintaining active musicianship throughout his life.
