About the Composer: Lauren Bernofsky

Lauren Bernofsky has established herself as a prolific composer across multiple genres, with over a hundred works to her name spanning solo pieces, chamber music, choral works, orchestral scores, and compositions for film, ballet, and opera. Her music consistently balances emotional depth with intellectual rigor, earning recognition from major institutions and competitions: her Sonatine won the National Flute Association's Newly Published Music Competition, her opera Mooch the Magnificent received the Opera Puppets Award at Boston Metro Opera, and her choral work Prayer of Shantideva won the Dalai Lama Composition Contest and was premiered at a prayer service in the Dalai Lama's presence.
Bernofsky holds degrees from The Harrt School (Bachelor's in violin and composition), New England Conservatory (Master's in composition), and Boston University (DMA in composition). Her works have been commissioned by major ensembles including The Del Mar Trio, The Bloomington Symphony, and numerous regional orchestras and soloists. She has received grants from The National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, The American Music Center, and The American Composers Forum, and has taught at the Peabody Institute and Interlochen Center for the Arts.
