About the Composer: Erik Morales

Erik Morales has built a prolific career balancing artistic ambition with pedagogical purpose. Since his first arranging job for a south Florida marching band in 1985, he has developed a distinctive voice across classical, jazz, and commercial idioms, producing over 150 published works for wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz groups, and chamber settings. His education at Florida International University and the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, grounded his compositional practice in formal technique.

Trumpet is Morales' primary instrument, and his contributions to the trumpet repertoire have earned recognition at the highest levels. His trumpet ensembles took first place at both the 2006 and 2008 National Trumpet Competitions, and his Concerto for Trumpet in C and Piano premiered at the 2009 International Trumpet Guild conference. In 2016, he was inducted into the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education's Hall of Fame. Schools and organizations across the country commission his work regularly.
