About the Composer: Chris Sharp
Chris Sharp holds a Ph.D. and has built a career spanning performance, composition, and education across multiple musical settings. As a trombonist, he spent eleven years as a performing musician and band leader at Walt Disney World, then transitioned into arranging and orchestrating for Disney parks globally starting in 1984, creating music for shows, recordings, and television broadcasts. His freelance work has included commissions from Universal Studios, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, the Boston Pops, and the USAF Airmen of Note.
Sharp's educational impact runs deep and wide. He has taught at middle school, high school, and college levels, and currently serves as Director of Bands at Polk State College in Winter Haven, Florida, where he also teaches music theory, music technology, and arranging. He frequently appears as a clinician and guest conductor, judges for major organizations including Bands of America and Drum Corps International, and has received the ASCAPlus award multiple times. His concert and jazz band compositions and arrangements appear regularly at the Midwest Clinic and in ensembles nationwide.
