Bob Phillips

Bob Phillips has shaped string education through decades of innovative composition and pedagogy. Since the 1970s, he has authored more than 25 instructional series and published over 200 works for orchestras and bands, earning recognition as an ASCAP award-winning composer whose pieces are performed regularly at the Midwest Clinic by thousands of students annually.

During 27 years leading the string program in Saline, Michigan, Phillips built an ensemble of over 700 students known nationally for excellence in both classical and eclectic repertoire. He founded the Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic, which performed internationally and at the White House, and has conducted at major festivals and all-state programs across the country, including Interlochen, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and the Queensland Honour Ensemble Program.
