Variations on "Lobe Den Herrn"

This nice set of variations is based upon the chorale melody, 'Lobe Den Herrn,' more commonly known today as 'Praise to the Lord.' It contains beautiful section writing for both woodwinds and brass, and stunning percussion writing. The composer moves the ensemble through several variations on the theme ranging in style from aggressive to mournful. The center variation is modal and full of emotional content---perfect for expressive ensemble playing.
