Edward Kennedy trained at three respected institutions: the University of Southern Queensland (Bachelor of Teaching in Music), Salford University in Manchester (Master's in Conducting), and Trinity College of Music London (Licentiate and Fellowship Diplomas). Born in Belfast, he relocated to Australia in 1986 and has built a career as both educator and creative musician across the UK and Australia.

Kennedy works as a multi-instrumental music educator and band director in Brisbane, where he teaches in Queensland schools and colleges. His output as a composer and arranger focuses on brass and wind band music, and he remains active as a conductor, performer, clinician, and adjudicator.
