About the Composer: Bob Lipton
Bob Lipton earned his B.M. in music education from San Francisco State University and has spent the last 19 years teaching middle school orchestra and band in Silicon Valley. His performance experience spans multiple ensembles and genres: he's played tuba with regional symphonies in the San Francisco Bay Area, toured as a brass quintet performer, appeared at international jazz and film festivals, and was part of Tom Petty's high school band.
Lipton's dual life as educator and working musician informs his compositions. He writes regularly for school string orchestras and bands, understanding the balance between accessibility and genuine musicality that young ensembles need.
