Description
English composer and organist Jeremiah Clarke (1674-1707) was primarily known for his skill as an organist and composer of church music, though he also composed numerous works for the theater and for the harpsichord. The celebrated Trumpet Voluntary, long erroneously attributed to Henry Purcell, was originally published by Jeremiah Clarke in 1700 as "The Prince of Denmark's March" in a collection of harpsichord pieces called A Choice Collection of Ayres for the Harpsichord. It has also been discovered in a collection of pieces for wind instruments and may have originally been intended as a piece for trumpet and wind ensemble. This arrangement for mixed brass quartet was made by Floyd O. Harris. (2:00)
