About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall (b. 1991) studied music education at the University of North Texas and earned his master's degree from Texas State University, where he studied composition and conducting with faculty including Dr. Michael Ippolito and Dr. Jack Wilds. His formative years as a performer included memberships in the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and Texas State's wind ensembles, where he served as principal tuba. He is a four-time Texas All-State Band member and performed as drum major for the 2013 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps.
Hall brings eight years of band directing experience to his compositional voice, leading his students to consistent sweepstakes recognition at the Texas University Interscholastic League evaluations. His 2018 non-varsity band at Griffin Middle School in Frisco became the first middle school band in the district to earn the Citation of Excellence, recognizing it among the top non-varsity ensembles in the state. His works appear regularly on the Texas Prescribed Music List and have received recognition including the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for middle school band.
