About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has spent over thirty years in the classroom, building a reputation for writing accessible, engaging music that speaks directly to young musicians. His compositions are performed across the country, and his pedagogical expertise has shaped several standard band method books, including Measures of Success and the Beyond series. In 2017, his work Cloud Gate drew an audience of 5,000 at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's highest honor, the Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Beyond the school band room, Loest's music has reached national audiences through television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and other network programs. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, and in 2022 founded Fanfare Music Press to publish high-quality compositions and arrangements for bands. Loest is a member of ASCAP and regularly accepts commissions.
