About the Composer: Steve Hodges

Steve Hodges holds degrees from Western Oregon University (Bachelor of Science) and Central Washington University (Master of Music Education). He spent four decades in public school music education, directing concert bands, choirs, and small ensembles at every level before retiring from the classroom.

Since 1986, Hodges has composed more than 120 concert band works published by Alfred Music, along with choral arrangements through Staff Music and Shawnee Press. His compositions have appeared at festivals and conventions across North America and internationally, with commissions from honor bands and schools in Virginia, Iowa, Winnipeg, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, and North Carolina. His work has also been featured on TBS and ESPN programming. Hodges is an ASCAP member and maintains active involvement in community music in The Dalles, Oregon, where he especially enjoys hearing his grandchildren perform his pieces in their school bands.
