About the Composer: Jack Wilds
Jack Wilds composes for ensembles spanning from children's choirs to professional orchestras, drawing inspiration from visual art, literature, and philosophical texts alongside pure musical thinking. His output includes over 40 works for developing musicians, and his wind band compositions appear on festival required lists across multiple continents. A former public school band director, he has studied composition with Michael Ippolito, Chris Trapani, and Donald Grantham.
Wilds teaches composition, music theory, ear training, and music technology at Texas State University and serves as Co-Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos. His chamber music has appeared at venues including the International Trombone Festival, the Midwest Clinic, and performances by the Attacca Quartet and members of the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony. He maintains an active schedule as a clinician and adjudicator.
