Kirby Shaw

Kirby Shaw holds degrees in Music Education and Choral Composition from San Jose State University and a DMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington. His work has reached choirs across 45 states and internationally in Canada, Australia, the Bahamas, Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Germany. A prolific composer and arranger with over 2500 works in print, Shaw has sold nearly 20 million copies of his music worldwide and earned multiple ASCAP awards. His arrangements are sung by choirs at every level, from high school ensembles to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Shaw's teaching combines rigorous musicianship with infectious humor and accessible pedagogy. Before founding the celebrated COS Vocal Jazz Ensemble at College of the Siskiyous in California, he taught in Mt. Shasta public schools. He has since directed innovative vocal jazz programs at Colorado State University and the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and currently directs the Jefferson State Choral Coalition at Southern Oregon University. His credits include one-on-one study with vocal legends like Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, and Jon Hendricks.
