Joseph M. Martin

Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and later earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. A accomplished performer who has appeared as a soloist with orchestras across the United States and Mexico, Martin won the Nina Plant Wideman Competition and performed with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra. His recital at Ex-convento del Carman was broadcast nationally.

Today Martin devotes much of his musical energy to church music and compositions for worship settings, performing regularly in churches and at conferences for church musicians. His works span from Carnegie Hall to regional theaters to sanctuaries across the United States and Canada, reflecting a compositional voice that moves fluidly between concert music and sacred choral literature. He lives in Austin, Texas with his family.
