Mark Williams

Mark Williams built a career defining what school band music could be. With over 200 published works and co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, he shaped generations of young musicians across the United States, Canada, and Australia through both his compositions and his work as a guest conductor and clinician. His roots in elementary band education in Washington State gave his writing an intuitive understanding of what developing ensembles need to succeed.

Beyond the page, Williams was an accomplished bassoon performer and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. He held degrees from Eastern Washington University and drew on his experience as a woodwind arranger for the 560th Air Force Band. His work earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards, reflecting his standing as a composer equally respected for band, orchestra, and choral literature.
