About the Composer: Mark Williams
Mark Williams built his reputation on music that works in real school rehearsal rooms. With over 200 published compositions for band, orchestra, and choir, plus co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, he shaped how generations of young musicians learned their craft. His background in elementary band instruction grounded everything he wrote in practical pedagogy.
Williams earned degrees from Eastern Washington University and performed as a woodwind specialist with the 560th Air Force Band while composing and arranging extensively. As a clinician and guest conductor, he worked across 34 U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, bringing his pedagogical philosophy directly to teachers and students. His work earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Beyond the page, he performed regularly on bassoon and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band.
