About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as a prolific composer for school ensembles, with over 200 published works spanning band, orchestra, and choir. He co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method and earned recognition through the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. His clinical work took him across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, where he shared his pedagogical vision with countless musicians.

A native of Chicago who spent his formative years in Spokane, Washington, Williams grounded his compositional practice in the classroom, specializing in elementary band instruction. He held degrees from Eastern Washington University and performed professionally as a bassoon player with the 560th Air Force Band, where he also worked as an arranger. Later, he served as conductor and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band, maintaining his commitment to musical excellence both as a writer and a performer.
