About the Composer: Jack Wilds
Jack Wilds composes for ensembles across the full spectrum of age and experience, from young children's choirs through professional orchestras. His catalog draws inspiration from visual art, literature, philosophy, and pure musical craft, yielding works that challenge performers while meeting them at their developmental level. Chamber works by Wilds have been championed by the Attacca Quartet, the New York Philharmonic, and the Atlanta Symphony; his wind band music appears on festival required lists worldwide and has been heard at the Midwest Clinic and international composition festivals from Hong Kong to Wyoming.
A former public school band director with deep classroom experience, Wilds has published over 40 works for developing musicians. He currently teaches composition, music theory, ear training, and music technology at Texas State University and serves as Co-Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos. His work has earned regular invitations as a clinician and adjudicator across North America.
