• Balance the melody between flute and oboe in the waltz section; since less experienced oboists often lack projection, the flute may need to pull back slightly to prevent the line from disappearing.
• Keep the march tempo steady with a clear click or metronome during rehearsals. At this level, the quarter-note pulse can easily drift when players focus on their own technical passages.
• If you're substituting 2nd flute or 2nd clarinet for the oboe or bassoon, mark any divisi sections clearly during the first read-through so nobody assumes they're doubling throughout.
• Test the low register of the bassoon part early; confirm your player can comfortably reach those notes before performance pressure adds tension to the lower jaw.

This works well as a warm-up concert piece or an intermission lighter during a longer chamber music recital.
