About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest brings three decades of classroom experience into every composition he writes. His works for young band are performed internationally, and his contributions to music education span published methods, conducting appearances at state and national conferences, and commissions that continue to expand the accessible repertoire for developing musicians. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) reached over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's publishing history includes partnerships with Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, The FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications, as well as his own Fanfare Music Press, founded in 2022. His name is also connected to several best-selling band methods including Measures of Success and the Beyond series (Warm-ups, Rhythms, and Chorales). His music has appeared on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and spent his entire teaching career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Illinois.
